HB2339 by Corte (Relating to the provision of mail ballots to overseas voters and to conforming adjustments to related dates, deadlines, and procedures.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Election Code, Education Code, and Health and Safety Code to change the deadlines for ballot material mailings, filings, withdrawals, orderings of elections, and certification deliveries related to elections. It would require the Secretary of State to adopt rules as necessary to implement the provisions of the bill.

The bill would require the voting clerk to notify the Secretary of State when the deadline for mailing ballot materials will not be met and require the Secretary of State to monitor the situation.

The bill would require that a board of trustees of an independent school district may not use state or local funds or other resources of the district to electioneer for or against any candidate, measure, or political party.

It is anticipated that any costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed by existing resources.
