March 30, 2005

TO:
Honorable Robert Talton, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2457 by Talton (Relating to the entrance requirements, base pay, and longevity pay in certain municipalities for a police officer who has previous experience as a police officer. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would apply to a police department in a city with a population of 1.5 million or more. According to the 2000 federal census, the bill would apply only to the City of Houston.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
