No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and the Texas Cancer Council to collaborate and develop a strategic plan to eliminate mortality from cervical cancer by 2015. DSHS indicates that costs of staffing a workgroup and printing the plan could be absorbed within existing resources. The Texas Cancer Council indicates that they would need to assign a staff member to work with DSHS on the plan, and anticipate that person would devote an average of 40 hours per month to the project. It is assumed that the Texas Cancer Council could absorb these staff costs with existing resources.
