IN RE:
HB2503 by Uresti (Relating to the powers and duties of the Texas Veterans Commission.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Government Code to create a Veterans Assistance fund outside the General Revenue fund with available earnings of the fund for use by the Texas Veterans Commission for veterans assistance programs and grants to local communities to address veterans' needs. It would allow the appropriations to be transferred to the fund as well as gifts, grants, and available earnings to be contributed to the fund. It would allow the Comptroller of Public Accounts to solicit and accept gifts and grants to the fund.

The bill also would authorize the Texas Veterans Commission to accept gifts and grants.

It is anticipated that existing resources would be able to absorb any costs associated with carrying out the provisions of the bill.
