No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 31 of the Parks and Wildlife Code relating to boating safety.  The bill would remove the requirement that a person operating a personal watercraft either must be at least 16 years old , or accompanied by a person 18 years or older, or at least 13 years of age and has successfully completed a boating education course as prescribed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).   The bill would repeal § 31.107 regarding the same age limitations and § 31.131 (b) reverting the offense of failure to complete the boater education course from a Class A Parks and Wildlife misdemeanor to a Class C misdemeanor.  No fiscal implication to the TPWD is anticipated from implementation of the bill.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005. 


Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
