TO: | Honorable Mary Denny, Chair, House Committee on Elections |
FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB2632 by Vo (Relating to the notice provided on changing a polling location in an election.), As Introduced |
The bill would require a county clerk to give notice of a change in location for a polling place not later than the earlier of 24 hours after the location is changed or 72 hours before the polls open on election day. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005 and would apply only to an election ordered on or after that date.
Current statute requires notice to be given not later than the earlier of 24 hours after the location is changed or 24 hours before the polls open on election day.
