LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 11, 2005

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2889 by Coleman (Relating to the governing board and territory of certain metropolitan rapid transit authorities.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would change the board composition of a metropolitan rapid transit authority located in a principal municipality with a population greater than 1.2 million. Based on the 2000 federal census, the bill would apply only to an authority located in the City of Houston.

The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in both houses; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
