LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 19, 2005

TO:
Honorable Harvey Hilderbran, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation, & Tourism

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2942 by Eiland (Relating to license fees for commercial fish dealers and shrimp boats. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 47 and Chapter 77 of the Parks and Wildlife Code relating to fees for licenses issued by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).  TPWD indicates the bill would extend the current limits on fee increases for commercial bay shrimp boat, commercial gulf shrimp boat, wholesale fish dealers, retail fish dealers, and retail dealer’s truck licenses from current levels until September 1, 2007.  To the extent the bill maintains the current level of pricing and prohibits raising license fees, no significant fiscal implications to the State are anticipated.

The bill would take effect August 29, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
