LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 2, 2005

TO:
Honorable Allan Ritter, Chair, House Committee on Economic Development

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2962 by Paxton (Relating to the abolition of the work and family policies advisory committee and the work and family policies fund.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The Texas Workforce Commission indicates that provisions of the current statute are obsolete and therefore would not have a fiscal impact. Because the Work and Families Policy Fund was abolished under previous funds consolidation legislation, the revenue that had been deposited to the fund is currently deposited to the General Revenue Fund.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If the bill does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, the bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
