HB2981 by Taylor (Relating to the misuse of the name of the Texas Workers' Compensation Commission; providing penalties.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The provisions of the bill amend the Labor Code by prohibiting the misuse of the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission (TWCC) name or symbols. The Attorney General, at the request of TWCC, shall bring an action to collect a civil penalty not to exceed $25,000 for each violation. The Attorney General, or the county attorney, may bring an action to restrain or enjoin a person from violating this section.

TWCC and the Office of the Attorney General anticipate any additional work resulting from the passage of this bill could be reasonably absorbed with current resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
