IN RE:
HB3006 by Hilderbran (Relating to certain requirements and limitations relating to a person's age, school attendance, marital status, residency, and relations by consanguinity and affinity; providing criminal penalties.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend various statutes as they relate to the requirements for marriage in the state. In particular, the bill would change the legal age of marriage with parental consent or court order from 14 to 16 years of age. The bill would also create offenses, of varying degrees, for marriage relating to age, current marital status, school attendance, residency and relations by consanguinity and affinity.
Local Government Impact
Costs to local governmental entities to implement the provisions of the bill would depend upon the number of violators, which would then determine the number of offenders to arrest, prosecute, and fine or jail.
