HB3027 by Rodriguez (Relating to the authority of a dental hygienist to provide services in certain facilities and schools.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code by stating that dental hygienist may provide unsupervised preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene services in a long-term care facility, school, Head Start Center, day-care facility, and other institutions approved by Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (board) rule. The bill also states that dental hygienists providing services under the provisions of the bill would be required to follow appropriate documentation protocols established by the board. According the board’s analysis, the provisions of the bill could be implemented within current resources.
 
The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
