LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 11, 2005

TO:
Honorable Harvey Hilderbran, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation, & Tourism

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3144 by Hughes (Relating to hunting on certain parts of Big Sandy Creek; providing a penalty.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would provide a penalty for hunting on certain parts of Big Sandy Creek.  The bill would amend the Parks and Wildlife Code to add that:  (c) No person may use a boat or any other type of floating device on Big Sandy Creek within 2.18 miles east of Texas Farm to Market Highway 2869 or between Texas Farm to Market Highway 2869 and Texas Farm to Market Highway 49, in Wood County, Texas, to hunt or to access any land to hunt any wild bird or wild animal. The bill, if adopted, would add requirements for law enforcement at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.  However, it is anticipated that any additional workload could be absorbed within existing agency resources.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
