LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 11, 2005

TO:
Honorable Rick Hardcastle, Chair, House Committee on Agriculture & Livestock

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3204 by Oliveira (Relating to the Texas Shrimp Marketing Assistance Program.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would define requirements for a "State or Local Shrimp Producers Association" and would allow the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to contract with a state or local shrimp producers association to promote and advertise the Texas shrimp industry.  To the extent the bill would allow TDA to contract with newly created associations to promote and advertise the Texas shrimp industry, the bill is not anticipated to have a significant fiscal implication.

The bill would take effect immediately with a two-thirds vote of all members in each house; otherwise the bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
