No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to require the executive director of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to file a report with the Board of Criminal Justice each fiscal year. The report would be required to identify the number of referrals made to county officials of TDCJ employee assaults on inmates. The bill would require the report to contain the names of the county officials to whom the referral was made, the date of the referrals, and the substance and disposition of each referral. The report would be available to the public upon request. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
