April 26, 2005

TO:
Honorable John T. Smithee, Chair, House Committee on Insurance

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3385 by Pickett (relating to licensing and regulation of residential fire alarm technicians and regulation of fire alarm detection and alarm devices. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Insurance Code relating to licensing and regulation of residential fire alarm technicians and regulation of fire alarm detection and alarm devices.  The Department of Insurance states that there may be minimal revenue increase depending on the number of entities that acquire the new license.  Based on the analysis of the Department of Insurance, any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

This bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
