LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 28, 2005

TO:
Honorable Will Hartnett, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3415 by Hughes (Relating to the transfer of asbestos-related claims by the judicial panel on multidistrict litigation.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would establish a committee composed of Senators and Representatives to study the transfer of asbestos-related claims by the judicial panel on multi-district litigation and to report its findings and recommendations to the Lieutenant Governor, the Speaker of the House, and to the 80th Legislature no later than February 1, 2007. Because the Legislature routinely establishes interim committees, this estimate assumes the bill would have no significant fiscal implication to the State.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
