LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 19, 2005

TO:
Honorable Norma Chavez, Chair, House Committee on Border and International Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3426 by Chavez (Relating to the establishment of border alcohol abuse task force.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Department of State Health Services to establish a border alcohol abuse task force to study alcohol abuse along the Texas-Mexico border. The agency indicates that there would be travel costs of $28,820 for task force members and DSHS staff to attend 7 meetings in border communities. It is assumed that these costs could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
