HB3562 by Campbell (Relating to the number of persons who may be appointed to certain positions in police departments covered by municipal civil service.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 143, Local Government Code, to update the total number of persons that may be appointed to the classification immediately below that of the department head to not exceed the total number of persons, pluse one, serving in that classification on January 1, 2005.

The bill would take effect immediately if it were to receive the required two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2005.

Under current statute, the same formula applies as that in the bill, except the applicable date under current statute is January 1, 1983.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
