No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to authorize a board of adjustment in certain municipalities to consist of one or more panels of at least five members each to be appointed for terms of two years. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a two-thirds vote in both houses; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2005.

Current statute applies only to the city of Houston. Under the provisions of the bill, the statute would also apply to the cities of Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, and San Antonio.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
