No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Department of Public Safety to suspend a provisional license, for not more than one year, if the license holder is found by the court as having committed an offense involving the operation of a motor vehicle. The offense has to result in an accident in which the license holder is substantially at fault or if it results in imminent danger of serious bodily injury. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
