LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 17, 2005

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB229 by Lucio (Relating to the Advisory Oversight Community Outreach Committee in the Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Department of Public Safety to establish an Advisory Oversight Community Outreach Committee.  The Department of Public Safety reports that there may be some operational impact in having personnel assigned to this committee, but that it can be accomplished within existing resources.  The bill would take effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house.  If the bill does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, it takes effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
