No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill requires state agencies to permanently remove data from data processing equipment before disposal or transfer of such equipment to a non-state entity. The bill requires the Department of Information Resources to adopt rules specifying data removal methods and what types of data processing equipment are required to have data permanently removed. No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated as DIR currently has some data removal guidelines which state agencies may follow. In addition, data removal activities specified by this bill are not time or labor intensive. 

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
