LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 4, 2005

TO:
Honorable David Swinford, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB286 by Wentworth (Relating to requiring public officials to receive training in the requirements of the open meetings and public information laws.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require public officials and/or their designated public information coordinator  to receive training in the requirements of the open meetings and public information laws.  The Office of the Attorney General would be the designated provider for the training. The costs to provide the training is not believed to be significant and this estimate assumes those costs could be reasonably absorbed within current agency resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
