IN RE:
SB310 by Deuell (Relating to certain diseases or illnesses suffered by firefighters and emergency medical technicians.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would not have a significant fiscal impact on the public safety benefits program and the disability retirement benefits administered by the ERS. Changes in the statute would not increase or decrease the claims approved by the Texas Statewide Emergency Services Personnel Retirement Act (TSESRA) as administered by the Fire Fighters' Pension Commissioner.  There is no impact to the Fire Protection Commission.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

There would be costs to local government based on the number and type of claims filed by firefighters and emergency medical technicians.  The number of cases that would be available for compensation under the provisions of the bill is unknown.
