TO: | Honorable Todd Staples, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security |
FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | SB317 by Staples (Relating to the designation of the El Camino Real East/West Corridor.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted |
The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect markers designating the portion of SH 7, SH 21, SH 103, US 290, and IH 10 from Pendleton to El Paso as the El Camino Real East/West Corridor. Based on the analysis of TxDOT, the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill would require the El Camino Real East/West Commission to reimburse TxDOT for the cost to install the signs.
The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in each house. If the bill does not receive a two-thirds majority vote in each house, the bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
