SB333 by West, Royce (Relating to the eligibility of a high school graduate for automatic admission to an institution of higher education.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would revise automatic admission requirements under Section 51.803, Education Code to add a requirement that a student graduate under the recommended or advanced high school program unless such coursework was unavailable due to circumstances beyond the student's control. The bill would direct the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to consult with the Texas Education Agency to adopt rules establishing standards applicable to private high schools. THECB could absorb costs associated with passage of the bill within existing resources.
