LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 16, 2005

TO:
Honorable Rodney Ellis, Chair, Senate Committee on Government Organization

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB403 by Nelson (Relating to the continuation and functions of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Perfusionists. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would abolish the Texas State Board of Examiners of Perfusionists, while continuing the licensing and regulation of perfusionists through 2017.  The bill would establish the Perfusionist Advisory Committee and make changes to the requirements for licensing and regulation of perfusionists.  The Sunset Commission estimates that the elimination of travel costs for the nine board members would save the Department of State Health Services $3,500 annually.  Travel costs for five advisory committee members to meet subject to the call of the Health and Human Services Commissioner are estimated by the Sunset Commission to be $2,000 annually.  The Department of State Health Services estimates a loss in fee revenue of $175 annually due to revision of calculating late renewal fees.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
