LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 15, 2005

TO:
Honorable Rodney Ellis, Chair, Senate Committee on Government Organization

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB464 by Ellis (Relating to the duration of judgment liens in favor of the state. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Under current law, all judgment liens must be refiled every 10 years. This bill would create an exception for judgment liens in favor of the state or state agencies. Although the bill would have no effect on state revenue, it would reduce the expense associated with refiling judgment liens every 10 years.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
