LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 4, 2005

TO:
Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB541 by Seliger (Relating to the confidentiality of photographs of certain residential property held by an appraisal district.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add a new section to Chapter 25 of the Tax Code to provide for the confidentiality of certain aerial photographs in appraisal district records, other than for official use by certain governmental entities.

Local Government Impact

Under current law, photographs in appraisal district records are open to public inspection.  Although appraisal districts would have to flag certain appraisal accounts as confidential, no significant impact on units of local government is anticipated.
