LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 7, 2005

TO:
Honorable Jeff Wentworth, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB552 by Duncan (Relating to the creation of magistrates in Nolan County.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would allow the commissioners court of Nolan County to authorize the district court judge to appoint one or more part-time or full-time magistrates to perform the duties listed in the bill. The magistrates' salaries would be paid from the county fund available for payment of officers' salaries.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
