Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 27, 2005

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB623 by Hinojosa (Relating to the authorized charges for providing a copy of public information requested under the public information law.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code and provide that a requestor of public information to a state agency who fails to make a deposit or post a bond required before the 10th day after the date the deposit or bond is required is considered to have withdrawn the request for the copy of the public information. The Texas Building and Procurement Commission indicates that there would be no significant fiscal impact as a result of implementing the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
