SB632 by Nelson (Relating to the requirements for issuance of a dental x-ray certificate to a dental assistant. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code by requiring the State Board of Dental Examiners (board) to create an advisory committee of dental professionals and educators to advise the board on establishing the dental assistant examination’s objectives, procedures, and integrity.

 

The bill would require the board to study the feasibility of providing a course and examination available on the internet. The study would include the effect of increasing accessibility to the course or examination through the internet, and the potential for security breaches. The board would be required to report the results of the study to the Lieutenant Governor and the Speaker of the House of Representatives by no later than November 1, 2006.

 

Based on the anlaysis of the board, it is assumed that the provisions of the bill could be implemented using existing resources.

 

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
