No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 24 of the Government Code to replace two 6-month terms of court with a single 12-month term of court for the 47th Judicial District.  No fiscal implication to the state is anticipated, because the bill would reduce the number of grand juries empanelled during the year from two to one, which would generate minimal savings to local government. 

The bill would take effect January 1, 2006.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  The bill would generate minimal savings to local government by reducing the number of grand juries empanelled during the year from two to one, potentially reducing the amount of expenditures for delivery, interrogation of potential grand jurors, administration of oaths, and responses to challenges to the array or an individual juror.
