No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would make adjustments to the required procedures for determining the incompetency of a defendant to stand trial. One of the changes would be to authorize a court to conduct hearings by means of an electronic broadcast system. The other proposed changes are administrative in nature for the courts and for mental health facilities. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
