LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 28, 2005

TO:
Honorable David Swinford, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB690 by Zaffirini (Relating to the requirement to post meetings of a governmental body under the open meetings law in certain circumstances.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill relates to open meetings notice requirements for meetings recessed by a governmental body.  The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house. Otherwise, it would take effect on September 1, 2005.

It is projected that any additional workload generated by the provisions of the bill could reasonably be absorbed within current resources at the Office of the Attorney General.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
