LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 16, 2005

TO:
Honorable Kent Grusendorf, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB697 by Estes (Relating to the validation of the boundaries of certain school districts.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would validate the boundaries of districts meeting certain criteria contained in the bill as they existed on January 1, 2004.  The legislation would not affect boundaries that were subject to litigation that began prior to January 1, 2004 or were part of a boundary change procedure as authorized under Texas Education Code Chapter 13 as of that date.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  Because the bill would maintain current boundaries, it would create no changes that would impact property values or other factors that could affect the distribution of state aid.
