LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 30, 2005

TO:
Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB706 by Barrientos (Relating to the conditions of employment for emergency medical services personnel employed by certain municipalities.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would establish local control of emergency medical services personnel employment matters in a municipality with a population over 460,000 that operates under a city manager form of government and employs emergency medical services staff in a department other than the fire department. The criteria of the bill would apply only to the City of Austin.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
