LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 17, 2005

TO:
Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB777 by Van de Putte (Relating to the powers and duties of the boards of trustees and superintendents of independent school districts.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would make several changes or additions to portions of the Texas Education Code that describe the relationships between school boards and superintendents; it describes certain duties and functions for each.

Local Government Impact

The bill would require several changes in local school board and superintendent activities.  However, the new requirements have no significant fiscal implication to local governments, and only serve to clarify their responsibilities.
