LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 20, 2005

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB921 by Duncan (Relating to the designation of a portion of Interstate Highway 27 between Lubbock and Amarillo as the Marshall Formby Memorial Highway.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect markers designating the portion of Interstate Highway 27 between the intersection of United States Highway 84 in Lubbock and its intersection with Interstate Highway 40 in Amarillo as the Marshall Formby Memorial Highway if TxDOT receives a grant or donation to cover the cost of design, construction, and erection of markers.  The bill would require that any grants or donations received for this purpose to be deposited to the credit of the State Highway Fund.  Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
