LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 21, 2005

TO:
Honorable Florence Shapiro, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB961 by Shapiro (Relating to a clearinghouse of energy and water conservation information and programs for school districts.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill adds Section 44.902 to the Texas Education Code and would require the Texas Education Agency to establish a clearinghouse of information related to energy and water conservation measures and programs that are appropriate for school districts.  The information would be solicited from the state energy conservation office and from private entities and would be periodically updated.  The bill requires that the information be made available on the Texas Education Agency website in a manner that makes the information easy to obtain.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
