The bill relates to donees of anatomical gifts and amends Section 692.005 Health and Safety code by authorizing forensic science programs at general academic teaching institutions and a private or independent institution of higher education to be able to receive gifts of bodies or parts of bodies.
The bill would require a forensic science program that receives a donation to submit a quarterly report to the Anatomical Board.
The definitions for general academic teaching institutions and private or independent institution of higher education are outlined in Section 61.003 (3 and 15) of the Education Code. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
