IN RE: | SB1006 by Harris (Relating to the period of time during which a person may be supervised in a pretrial intervention program and the fee that may be charged for the program.), As Introduced |
The bill would increase from one year to two years as the maximum amount of time a defendant may be supervised in a pretrial intervention program operated by a community supervision and corrections department (CSCD). The fee a court is authorized to impose on a person on pretrial intervention supervision would be established at not more than $60 per month, whereas the current fee is a total of not more than $500. In addition to or in lieu of the supervision fee, the bill would authorize a court to order a defendant to pay or reimburse the CSCD for any other expense incurred as a result of the defendant's participation in the pretrial intervention program.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
