SB1050 by Van de Putte (Relating to the promotional system for municipal service fire fighters. ), Conference Committee Report

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would create Section 143.0051, Local Government Code, regarding civil service status and procedures for promoting certain fire department employees in a fire department employed by a municipality with a population of 150,000 or more and that has a governing body of five or fewer members.

The bill would amend other sections within Chapter 143, Local Government Code, affecting municipal civil service procedures related to the promotional system for fire fighters and police officers, fitness incentive pay, and in certain municipalities, related to the length of the probationary period of a beginning fire fighter or police officer.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
