FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 5, 2005

TO:
Honorable Eddie Lucio, Jr., Chair, Senate Committee on International Relations & Trade

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1202 by Lucio (Relating to the coordination of colonia initiatives and services to colonia residents.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Government Code to add the Office of Rural Community Affairs, the Office of State-Federal Relations, the Texas Department of Insurance, and the Texas Department of Transportation to those agencies required to designate a liaison for colonias initiatives.

The bill would require the colonias initiatives coordinator to work with the colonia resident advisory committee, would allow the coordinator to establish a similar advisory committee, and would require the coordinator to submit a report to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Lieutenant Governor, and each member of the legislature with recommendations related to addressing the needs of colonias residents.

It is anticipated that any costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed by existing resources.

Local Government Impact
