SB1214 by Barrientos (Relating to the authority of certain counties to select an insurance broker.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to authorize a county that has a population of 800,000 or more to select, only on a fee basis, an appropriately licensed insurance broker as the sole broker of record to obtain proposals and coverages for insurance. The bill would establish applicable procedures and requirements.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives the required two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2005.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
