April 20, 2005

TO:
Honorable Kenneth Armbrister, Chair, Senate Committee on Natural Resources

John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1225 by Barrientos (Relating to the regulation of rainwater harvested for domestic use.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to establish standards relating to the domestic use of harvested rainwater, including health and safety standards for
treatment and collection methods for harvested rainwater intended for drinking, cooking, or bathing.

Any costs to the TCEQ in developing standards and rulemaking would be accomplished using existing resources.

Local Government Impact
