SB1257 by Lindsay (Relating to the operation of a motor vehicle by a person who holds a driver's license or a commercial driver's license. ), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code as it relates to the operation of a motor vehicle by a person who holds a driver's license or a commercial driver's license. 

The provisions of the bill would implement changes required by Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 384.  Noncompliance with federal commercial driver's license regulations could result in the withholding of 5 percent (or $99,685,496) of the state's apportionment of federal highway funds for the first full year of noncompliance and 10 percent (or $199,370,993) for each subsequent year of noncompliance.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
