SB1305 by Brimer (Relating to the time a person may be detained in custody for a preliminary examination.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to change the length of time a person may be detained in custody by a mental health facility for a preliminary mental health examination. Current statute for the time period is 24 hours; provisions of the bill would increase the maximum allowable time to 72 hours.
 
The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
