IN RE:	SB1379 by Lucio (Relating to a statewide initiative regarding the prevention and treatment of obesity-related health concerns.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

According to the Department of State Health Services, the Department of Agriculture and the Texas Education Agency, the bill would have no signficant fiscal impact on these agencies. It is assumed that any additional costs the agencies would incur to implement the provisions of the bill would be absorbed within each agency's existing resources. 

Local Government Impact

If all eligible school districts seek federal approval to implement the special assistance program, then TEA estimates that at least $26.8 million would be needed annually to offer free school breakfast to  students in certain school districts.
